Ebola Virus (EBOV) Real Time RT-PCR Kit is an in vitro diagnostic test for the detection of all high pathogenic members of Ebolavirus: Zaire ebolavirus (ZEBOV), Sudan ebolavirus (SUDV), Taï Forest ebolavirus (TAFV) and Bundibugyo ebolavirus (BDBV) in blood, serum or plasma (non-heparin anticoagulant). It is intended to aid in the diagnosis of Ebola virus disease (EVD), formerly known as Ebola haemorrhagic fever, among symptomatic individuals. The results should be interpreted strictly according to the Interpretation of Results in this manual. Final judgment should be made with combination of other diagnostic methods. This test is based on real time RT-PCR technology utilizing reverse-transcriptase (RT) reaction to convert RNA into complementary DNA (cDNA). This kit is manually operated and to be used with the RNA extraction kits and PCR instruments listed below by trained laboratory personnel who are proficient in performing real-time RT-PCR assay.
